"I hope to inspire others in #TEAMBUSYWOMAN with motivation and a happy heart. Tell yourself you’ll do something for ten minutes and that’s it. Just ten minutes and you’re done. Chances are you’ll run longer, work harder and accomplish bigger goals by starting with a smaller one."
Hi there! I’m Lauren, but most people call me Hoghie. Raised a military ‘brat’, I’ve been exploring on my own since 2010 when I moved to China to teach English. Soon after, I moved to Shanghai to work as an editor for That’s Shanghai magazine.
I’m always on the hunt for what’s hot, usually exploring on foot because I love to run. That’s the way I prefer to see the world: by my own two feet. I’ve raced throughout Asia – from a three-day bike and run race in Inner Mongolia to the temples of Angkor Wat. My current goal is to do a marathon on (almost) every continent and so far, I’ve got three under my belt: Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and the Marathon du Medoc (a wine marathon)! I’ve also got my eyes set on a half-Ironman, one of these days…
I’ve been busy giving street food tours for UnTour Shanghai, starting an all-female soccer league, being an instructor at Spinback Fitness Shanghai and helping smaller businesses grow their brands. Most recently, I got appointed as GM for F45 Shanghai! I love to connect like-minded people and businesses and have been referred to as a ‘community builder’.
I find motivation and inspiration through the lifestyle site Well & Good, the cashew nut lattes at my favorite cafe Egg, my Fit Family and helping others accomplish their goals.
